Network for a new health ecosystem

M4-HEALTH is a research and innovation network developing hybrid digital twins for preventive and personalised healthcare. Led by Linköping University, the network brings together 16 Swedish universities and is supported by more than 100 companies and organisations from a wide variety of societal sectors to create a new health ecosystem powered by AI and digital twin technology.

This remarkable growth - from an original consortium of just 10 members - has culminated in the submission of a VINNOVA application for up to SEK 2 billion in funding over ten years. 

Hybrid Digital Twins for personalised healthcare

M4-HEALTH seeks to transform the current reactive and hospital-centric healthcare system into a preventive, personalized, ecosystem-based approach, which is bound together by the next big breakthrough in AI: Personalized digital twins of individuals.

Personalized digital twins are made possible through our world-unique M4-model that simulates processes from the intracellular level to the whole-body response - across time, species and different situations - to account for all major functionalities in the body. We combine M4 models for how the body works - with machine learning (ML) and large language models (LLMs) to replicate a person externally and internally, from organs to cells, and simulate how lifestyle changes, treatments, or medications affect health.
